Kammac helps children enjoy the magic of storytelling on World Book Day

THIRD-party logistics provider Kammac is distributing more than 100,000 outfits across the UK for World Book Day as part of the ‘All Dressed Up’ campaign.

The project is in partnership with Every Child Deserves To Dream, an initiative by philanthropist and media executive Joel Weinshanker, and costume retailer Rubies.

Kammac has provided storage, distribution, and fulfilment services to guarantee timely delivery for March 6 event. Over a 10-day period, the firm has facilitated the shipment of costumes to 804 schools across the UK, ensuring those with over 25% of students on free school meals have access to dressing-up boxes. The average order size has been 68 units, with shipments ranging from a minimum of two items to a maximum of 460 per school.

The cost-of-living crisis has made it increasingly difficult for families to afford costumes. One in five children report feeling embarrassed or excluded, with some even missing school due to social pressure. By supporting Rubies, Kammac is helping to bridge this gap. The donated costumes, valued at over £1 million, will provide children with the opportunity to engage in the creative and social aspects of reading.

“We are incredibly proud to support Rubies with this initiative,” said Kammac’s Alec Hunt. “At Kammac, we are committed to delivering logistics solutions that make a real difference. By helping fulfil and distribute these costumes out of our Wavertree site, we are ensuring that more children, regardless of background, can take part in World Book Day.”
