ALDI has announced that all of its own-brand porridge oat products are now packaged in plastic-free packs.
The news comes after the retailer introduced paper packaging to its Everyday Essentials Porridge Oats, which the supermarket said is expected to save around 57 tonnes of plastic annually.
Forming part of its target to reduce plastic packaging by 50% by 2025, it also follows last year’s switch to 100% recyclable cardboard packaging across all own-brand porridge pots.
Luke Emery, plastics and packaging director at Aldi UK, said, “At Aldi, we are committed to reducing the use of plastic across our products and this latest change is another example of our ongoing progress.
“We know our customers want to make sustainable choices when they shop with us, which is why small steps like this can make a big difference.”
