Firm reaps benefits of youth

Jack and Gerry Wainman

WHILE many 21-year-olds are still working part-time, studying or figuring out what to do with their lives, Jack Wainman is set to become the managing director of what he says will become the UK’s largest stockist of used and refurbished shrink wrap machinery.

Jack’s company – Jakpak Wrapping Machinery – was established in 2015 as he was entering his second year at university and now, over two years on, he is set to take over his father Gerry Wainman’s long-standing firm Aaron Packaging Machinery.

With six years’ industry experience already under his belt, having worked previously in his father’s business, Jack is more than up for the challenge.

“At 21, becoming the biggest stockist of shrink wrap machinery is pretty impressive and, if anything, I believe I’m just starting out,” he said.

Jack does admit that there have been times that he hasn’t been taken seriously on first impression because of his age – but with business across the UK and Europe, even spanning as far as Puerto Rico and 75 machines in stock, ready to go, Jack is definitely serious.

Jakpak boasts companies including Adpak Machinery Systems, MuscleFood, Cepac and Punjab Paper Convertors among its clientele.

The relationship with Adpak Machinery Systems was originally formed through Aaron Packaging Machinery. Gerry has completed a great deal of business with Adpak. Jakpak was introduced to Adpak in 2016 and since then they have been able to establish a strong relationship within the used shrink wrap machinery market.

Jack stated, “I pride my company on being the number one for used Adpak machinery; the assistance of the relationship and customers part-exchanging means we always have a constant supply of machinery. As well as being able to offer installation and servicing, the close partnership with Adpak really helps make customers have a belief in Jakpak.

“I am constantly offered machinery from existing customers, Adpak themselves and other sources. Machinery will come to Jakpak; we will service and refurbish the machinery dependent on the condition. The machine is then offered out onto the market and once a customer purchases the machine, we are also available to offer service contracts and warranty.

“Regarding aftersales care, we are extremely confident with our machinery and rise to the opportunity of being able to help our customers. That could mean diagnosing issues with machinery or offering out expert guidance to increase efficiency with their operation.”

With youth on his side, Jack has a keen understanding of social media, something he believes his competitors are lacking. “Social media just makes it so much easier marketing your products and your business; I believe I can use it as an advantage.”

Jack added, “I 110% believe I’m just getting started and the industry hasn’t seen Jakpak’s full potential yet.”
