A four-foil improvement

Professional Packaging ServicesOne of the largest and most widely respected family companies within the spirits industry, Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd, has chosen Professional Packaging Services (PPS) to produce the packaging for its Glengoyne, 21 year old Highland single malt whisky. To reflect the quality of the premium brand, PPS has used four different foils in the printing process – silver, two golds and a white – to give the box a classy and upmarket look. To enhance the stylish look further a ‘feathered’ design feature, which has been picked out with a UV varnish, appears on all sides of the box. The Glengoyne logo has also been embossed and spot UV varnish has been used to highlight the seal. In addition, silver foiling of both the internal plinth and yoke, which holds the bottle in place, completes the luxury feel. Speaking about the packaging Keith Murdoch of Ian Macleod Distillers, said, “To reflect the quality of the 21 year old malt it is essential the packaging communicates the luxury feel.
“The construction, printing and finishing of the box produced by PPS really does achieve this objective and provides it with excellent shelf appeal. We are therefore looking forward to seeing this reflected in increased sales.”
David Bell of PPS believes this latest contract enhances further the company’s credentials in the drinks market.
