Luxardo removes frosted glass finish from Limoncello bottle

LUXARDO has unveiled a new look for its Limoncello liqueur bottle.

The traditional frosted bottle has been replaced by a vertically fluted design that aims to elevate its aesthetic and reduce its carbon footprint.

Luxardo claimed the redesign proves that high end luxury and environmental responsibility can be compatible. By removing the energy intensive chemical frosting process and optimising the structural integrity of the glass, the business said it has made a ‘major leap forward’ in eco efficiency.

Nicolò Luxardo explained, “In terms of the redesign, the idea was to refresh the packaging while keeping the bottle immediately recognisable as Luxardo Limoncello. The overall shape and label architecture remains very close to the previous version, but we removed the frosted glass finish and introduced vertical fluting to give the bottle a more premium and textured look.

“An additional benefit of the redesign is improved packaging efficiency. Based on the LCA assessment carried out by our manufacturer, the new bottle shows measurable reductions across several environmental impact indicators versus the previous version, including lower fossil fuel use, lower CO2 impact and lower water consumption across all formats and configurations.

“The removal of the frosting process and the optimisation of the glass structure both contributed positively during the evaluation phase, while also simplifying the production process, improving supply chain reliability and helping reduce lead times.”
