AHEAD of interpack 2026, Domino Printing Sciences has introduced the Gx‑Series PRO Printhead.
The thermal inkjet (TIJ) solution is designed to help manufacturers prepare for the industry’s transition to GS1 Digital Link and variable 2D codes.
As retailers and supply chains push for greater transparency and accuracy, Domino said the move to GS1 2D coding has become ‘one of the most significant developments’ for packaging identification. Manufacturers now require coding systems that can deliver larger print areas, higher contrast, and higher‑speed performance, all while maintaining accuracy on increasingly complex production lines.
The Gx‑Series PRO Printhead has been developed around the core priorities of waste reduction, speed, and compliance.
Boasting a 23mm print height, high optical density, high resolution and long throw distance, the Gx‑Series PRO Printhead is described as ‘ideal’ for high‑throughput food packaging applications, fresh and chilled products, pharmaceuticals, and direct‑to‑box printing whilst also having appeal for general purpose applications.
James Gibbins, global thermal inkjet product mManager, Domino, said, “The GS1 Digital Link transition is arguably one of the most significant shifts in variable data coding. With our new Gx‑Series PRO Printhead and our R‑Series vision system, we provide manufacturers with a simple, fully integrated solution for coding and verification – all from a single trusted supplier.”
