Coveris launches mono-material pack for refrigerated food

Mono-material tray for refrigerated food applications

COVERIS has launched a new resealable mono-material tray solution designed for refrigerated food applications.

The MonoFlexBP tray is described as replacing non-recyclable, mixed-material packaging while ensuring ‘extended shelf-life and consumer convenience’.

The solution features a resealing system that allows the tray to be re-closed multiple times, helping to reduce food waste and improve user experience. Coveris also provides thermoformable bottom films that offer product protection and are designed to help ensure ‘optimal’ shelf-life for a variety of chilled contents.

For applications requiring high oxygen barriers, Coveris offers a PET- and PA-free lidding film that seals, peels, and reseals on PP trays.

“We are extremely pleased to launch MonoFlexBP tray for refrigerated goods,” said Katja Killian, BU flexibles business development director at Coveris. “With this sustainable alternative to non-recyclable materials, Coveris continues to lead the way in circular packaging innovation, offering high-performance solutions that address both environmental impact and consumer demand.”

The solution is suited to processed meats, sausages, dairy products, cheese, and other chilled or refrigerated items. It is available with a high gas barrier to preserve freshness and integrity. For added visual appeal and branding, the trays can be printed using gravure or flexographic methods and are also available with a matt or paper-effect lacquer finish.
