KM Packaging unveils new mono PET lidding film

Lidding film for food packaging

KM Packaging has announced the launch of a new mono PET lidding film specification.

K-Peel 4G boasts a low seal initiation point and is described as being capable of sealing through contamination. Clean peels are achievable from as little as 110°C and 0.3 seconds dwell time.

This low seal initiation point also means it’s compatible with all PET trays and, according to KM Packaging, provides clean and strong peels for APET and rPET trays. Trays which present sealing challenges because of thickness or available sealing area are also said to be a key area where for K-Peel 4G can perform well.

The solution is designed for ambient, chilled or frozen applications and is ovenable It also has anti-fog properties.

Alan Lockhart, commercial director – UK & Eire, said, “We’re pleased to be able to launch this new material into the marketplace. The advantages of a low seal imitation temperature means K-Peel 4G has a broad range of lidding applications across the industry. The adaptability of 4G is what sets it apart from the rest.”

The material is available in two gauges: 21 microns and 25 microns.

Alan Lockhart added, “Whilst the impact of EPR and RAM may question the cost impact on PET-based films, ultimately their efficiency, low weight, ovenability and ease of use prove that they still have a relevant and valuable place in the tray sealing and lidding film arena.”
