EP Group joins Alliance for Fibre-Based Packaging

EP Group Alliance for Fibre-Based Packaging

EP Group has joined the recently launched Alliance for Fibre-Based Packaging as a founding member.

As a major supplier of fibre-based packaging to the retail, grocery, and foodservice sectors, the business said it believes it has a responsibility to ensure there is correct decision-making in the industry – and this coalition can do just that.

Launched earlier this year, the Alliance for Fibre-Based Packaging brings together businesses from across the entire value chain including raw material suppliers, convertors and manufacturers, distributors and retailers, and trade bodies and sector specialists.

The Alliance will focus on three priorities:

  • Ensure fair representation in EPR – so that fibre-based formats aren’t unfairly penalised as the UK adopts the producer pays model.
  • Maximise acceptance of fibre formats – pushing for clarity, consistency, and infrastructure support so these solutions stay recyclable at scale.
  • Shape future recycling and waste policy – proactively, with government and industry, not reactively after the fact.
EP Group added that fibre-based packaging is already a ‘critical’ part of daily life, but it needs ‘champions’ in the policy space as well as the marketplace.
