Hunter Luxury marks Chinese Year of the Snake with new bag range

HUNTER Luxury has marked the Chinese Year of the Snake with the launch of its latest Inspirations collection of solutions – the Ophidian range of mini bags.

The collection of three bag styles taps into the trend of incorporating traditional Chinese New Year iconography into wearable products.

The crimson bags are each emblazoned with a gold symbol of the snake that gives the collection its name (Ophidia is the Latin name for the group of reptiles that comprises snakes). The red and gold motif captures two colours closely associated with Chinese New Year, with each bag also featuring zips and metalware in gold.

Amanda Wakeling, product inspiration manager at Hunter Luxury, said, “This collection combines modernity with tradition, drawing inspiration from the current ‘gig tripping’ trend and the rich cultural heritage of the Chinese New Year. It demonstrates our commitment to the craft of product design and our trademark attention to detail – but every element is also fully customisable in response to specific customer needs.

“Speed to market is becoming increasingly important, and having these collections in place helps us meet that demand. Even though everything we offer is bespoke, we can use the Ophidian collection as a starting point and tailor them to meet specific needs.

“Customers can use the collection to check out the construction, and we can work with them to select a fabric, colour, and pattern. If a customer requests a Christmas belt bag design, we can quickly adjust the basic concept that we’ve already created with the Ophidian range, enabling us to move much faster.”

Each is made using a suede effect fabric that is debossed with a reptile effect finish. This pattern is then overlaid with a gold embroidered design. Inside, each bag is lined with a gold satin, colour-matched to contrast with the bold reds and complement the gold embroidery on the exterior.
