Flow pack solution ‘transforms’ luxury confectionery firm’s packaging operations

ULMA Packaging has explained how its FR200 flow pack solution has ‘transformed’ Bon Bon’s Wholesale’s packaging operations.

Founded in 2007, Bon Bon’s Wholesale is based in Tockwith, Yorkshire, and is part of the Lanchester Wine Group. The firm specialises in luxury confectionery and snacks.

Due to continued growth, Bon Bon’s experienced several challenges in its operation. ULMA revealed the inefficiency of its current packaging process led to production bottlenecks. And with chocolate production being labour-intensive, the heavy reliance on staff in this part of the process has increased costs and introduced a higher risk of human error.

The existing packaging system also needed more flexibility to handle the variety of packaging formats required for a diverse product range.

The solution to these issues has been found in the FR200. ULMA said the machine’s ‘precision and uniform’ packaging capabilities has reduced product damage and improved overall quality. By automating the packaging process, the FR200 minimised the need for manual intervention, leading to a re-deployment of labour. The versatile design also allowed it to handle different packaging formats and sizes.

Kirsty Firth, joint MD of Bon Bon’s, said, “The FR200 has transformed our packaging process, allowing us to meet growing demand while maintaining the high quality our customers expect. The flexibility and efficiency of the machine have been game-changers for our operations.”
