Glass packaging firm replaces diesel forklifts with electric models

ARDAGH Glass Packaging (AGP) has announced that four new electric forklift trucks have replaced diesel forklifts at the AGP – Europe facility in Bad Munder, Germany.

The lithium iron phosphate forklifts, with a lifting capacity of five tons, are being used for loading the facility’s glass containers.

The trucks run on a fast-charging battery and are said to require ‘very little’ maintenance, resulting in reduced loading times and carbon emissions.

Plant director Frank Lübbering said, “All the forklifts are equipped with the latest technology: the batteries don’t need to be changed; they can be re-charged quickly, which is safer and more convenient for our drivers. Plus, there are zero carbon emissions, which helps us to achieve our sustainability targets.”
