A survey has been launched to aid the development of an ‘innovative’ new large-scale reusable cup scheme in the Highlands’ North Coast 500 route.

NorthCoast 500, Zero Waste Scotland, and the Highland Good Food Partnership are behind the Cup Movement in the Highlands initiative which is set to launch in March.

The organisations explained that the initiative will look to make it easier for businesses and customers to use a reusable cup when purchasing takeaway drinks in the North Coast 500 area of the Highlands.

The short survey has been created as part of preparatory work ahead of the scheme going live, with the organisation keen to ensure the views of those buying takeaway drinks in the communities around the North Coast 500 help inform the scheme.

Open to anyone who lives, visits, or is planning to visit the area around the North Coast 500 route, all those who complete the survey will be able to access discounted traveller membership from NorthCoast 500 and be in with a chance of winning prizes from a range of local businesses.

Catherine Gee, deputy CEO of Keep Scotland Beautiful, said, “We are so excited to be launching the Cup Movement in the Highlands later this year and this survey will help us gather views to inform the development and roll-out of the campaign. Everyone who completes the survey will play a vital role in helping us design a campaign that shifts behaviours and mainstreams reusables choices.

“If you live in the area surrounding the North Coast 500, regularly visit it or are planning to visit, I encourage you to take part in the survey and help us change the throwaway culture.”
