HAGGIS specialist Macsween has unveiled a new package redesign, which claims to improve sustainability and offer more affordability for customers.
Macsween’s original and vegan-approved vegetarian 454g and 227g haggis packs will now become 400g and 200g respectively, with RRPs of £2.75 (400g) and £1.30 (200g).
The brand said the changes ensure customers are purchasing a ‘more sustainable product with a reduction in packaging and potentially less food waste’.
The lighter packs also include new artwork with a haggis recipe ‘front and centre’ on the latest design, which Macsween said highlights its versatility as an ingredient and protein source.
The packs are available at Morrisons stores from September 23 and Tesco from September 25. Sainsbury’s, ASDA, Waitrose and Co-op will roll out the new packs over the next few months.
James Macsween, MD at Macsween explained, “This move will invigorate the haggis market and make our award-winning haggis more affordable. Our customers have continued to support us over the years and with the current challenges we’re all facing, we wanted to give back and offer even more value, enabling them to enjoy our premium haggis at a lower price.
“As a business, it’s important that we’re addressing the sustainability of our products and we’re proud to say that this move to the lighter packs will enable customers to make more sustainable buying choices too. They’re purchasing a product with less packaging which will potentially also help reduce food waste, both of which underline Macsween’s commitment to providing the best tasting foods in a way that prioritises environmental sustainability.”
