Iced coffee brand opts for cans for the first time

IN a departure from the brand’s usual cardboard cartons, Jimmy’s Iced Coffee’s latest product – Flat White – has been made available in recyclable aluminium cans.

The firm teamed up with Ball Corporation to produce the cans, with a view of creating environmentally friendly containers.

Joining other Jimmy’s Iced Coffee products on UK shelves, the Iced Flat White is the first in the range to be filled in a can format. Available in a 25-centiliter format, the Flat White is also said to satisfy the latest trend of ‘on the go’ convenience.

Jim Cregan, Jimmy’s Iced Coffee co-founder said, “We’ve always championed sustainability and therefore opting for cans, which are easily recycled into the same format again and again, was logical step for us. Being based on the south coast, the ocean and the environment are a big part of who we are and what we do, and we want to look after that, and we know our customers do as well.”

Jag Bains, Ball Corporation sales director for UK added, “Working with Jimmy’s Iced Coffee has been inspiring. We really enjoy working with companies that are becoming more sustainable and environmentally cautious and debuting a new product in can is definitely the way forward. It’s wonderful to partner with a brand that has set a goal to be plastic free by 2020 and we are glad to help them achieve it.”

The new 25-centiliter cans were produced in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and filled in Munsterland.
