YORKSHIRE Packaging Systems (YPS) has revealed details of two automatic side feed sleeve wrapper and shrink tunnel installations for major food sector suppliers.
One of the installations took place at the Erith-based factory of MH Foods, a subsidiary of the Dairy Crest Group. MH manufactures the cooking oil spray, Frylight. The range of sprays are used in frying, baking, roasting and stir-frying.
MH Foods’ packaging operation involves shrink wrapping a collation of six spray bottles together in a cardboard tray, at a speed of 18 packs per minute. The business was already using a YPS sleeve sealer and heat tunnel on one of the production lines, which YPS said has improved pack quality, increased speeds and reliability.
As demand for Frylight products has grown, an identical line has now been purchased and installed.
Glenn Peters, production manager at MH Foods said, “The quality of servicing, the speed of installation and the performance of the equipment from YPS left us in no doubt that we should look to them once again when our need for further equipment arose.”
YPS has also installed a side feed sleeve wrapper and shrink tunnel at the Stockport factory of EHL Finest Natural Ingredients. EHL produces spices, seasonings, herbs, seeds, dried fruits and nuts. The business boasts its own on-site blending facilities for creating bespoke blends of ingredients.
EHL’s packaging operation comprised various foods being wrapped in trays on a semi-automatic shrink wrapping machine. YPS said that as this machine aged, EHL found it was becoming increasingly unreliable.
An SVA 60-35 side feed sleeve wrapper and TR 65/100 shrink tunnel, complete with upgraded steel mesh belt, has now been supplied. YPS said the change to fully-automatic equipment has been a “significant future-proofing” step for EHL, resulting in a faster throughput and “absolute reliability”.
