Coveris develops mono-material sleeve solution for liquid fabric softener

Dr. Beckmann liquid fabric softener

COVERIS has developed a mono-material sleeve solution for Dr. Beckmann’s first liquid fabric softener launch in France.

The new SleeveFlex Ultra Stretch solution is said to use around 30% less material than conventional shrink sleeves.

To support its expansion into the liquid fabric softener category, Dr. Beckmann required a packaging solution for its newly designed bottle that combined premium shelf appeal with sustainability.

At the heart of the project is SleeveFlex Ultra Stretch, Coveris’ elastic stretch sleeve made from mono-material LDPE film. Suitable for both PET bottles and HDPE containers, it supports bottle-to-bottle recycling on PET through its floatable design and creates a fully mono-material PE packaging solution on HDPE.

Compared with conventional shrink sleeves, Coveris says it uses around 30% less material and eliminates the need for a steam tunnel, saving approximately 150 kilograms of steam per hour. The flexible sleeve also removes the need for temperature-controlled transport and special storage conditions.

As a full-service packaging partner, Coveris supported Dr. Beckmann throughout the project, from selecting the right technology and integrating new machinery to commissioning the production line, helping bring the solution from concept to commercial launch in six months.
