MM Packaging to invest further in apprenticeship programme

MM Packaging Deeside has revealed a number of apprenticeship opportunities are available across the business.

The firm is looking to recruit fresh talent for roles including engineering, finance, operations and estimating.

MM’s apprenticeship programme combines practical experience with formal learning and is designed to support long-term career development. Supported by the BPIF, the three-year manufacturing apprenticeship initiative provides a pathway to a Level 3 NVQ qualification.

Alongside hands-on experience, apprentices complete First Aid, Fire Marshal and IOSH Managing Safely training.

The business said it has already seen impressive results from its investment in apprenticeships, with nine recent recruits being offered ongoing employment and the opportunity to continue developing their careers within the company upon completion of their training.

MD David Whitworth said, “Some of the most talented people in our business started their careers as apprentices, so we know first-hand the impact the programme can have. For us, an apprenticeship is about much more than gaining a qualification. It’s about giving people the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues, develop real-world skills and discover where their strengths lie, all while becoming part of a team that wants to see them succeed.”

The packaging supply chain has faced challenges over the years on recruitment and strategy. By continuing to invest in apprenticeships, MM Packaging aims to strengthen its future workforce.

David added, “We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals who are eager to learn and develop, and in return we offer the training, support and hands-on experience needed to build a successful long-term career. We’re proud to be able to offer these opportunities to people in our local community. Apprenticeships provide an excellent foundation for a rewarding career, and we’ve seen first-hand how they help individuals build confidence, develop valuable skills and realise their potential.”
