TV chef Theo Michaels is fronting Canned Food UK’s latest campaign to bring high-protein canned ingredients into focus through a series of simple recipes.
Theo is a professional chef, presenter, award-winning author, previous MasterChef contestant, and a regular on BBC Morning Live as guest chef and off-site presenter. As an official CANbassador, his latest partnership with Canned Food UK builds on the success of previous campaigns, showcasing the ‘versatility, affordability and convenience’ of canned foods, while tapping into demand for protein-rich meals that are cost-effective and easy to prepare at home.
The Protein Packed Cans series introduces four recipes, each developed by the chef to highlight how everyday cupboard staples can deliver impressive protein content and nutritional value without compromising on flavour.
Among the featured dishes is a Butterbean & Tuna Bake, a twist on the traditional Cypriot Gigantes Plaki, alongside a Warm Mediterranean Lentil Salad, Brazilian style Black bean stew and a Butternut Squash and Halloumi Curry.
Theo Michaels said, “Canned food is often underestimated but it’s a fantastic source of nutrition and flavour. Through this latest Canned Food UK campaign, we’re showing just how easy it is to create satisfying, protein-packed meals using ingredients many people already have in their cupboards. Each of my Protein Packed Cans recipes deliberately focus on full flavour and high-quality reinforcing how convenient and reliable canned foods are in everyday cooking thanks to their versatility and long shelf life.”
Canned Food UK champions the benefits of canned food and is run by the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association (MPMA).
Jason Galley, director and chief executive of MPMA, added, “Theo Michaels is a brilliant partner for Canned Food UK. His passion for easy, nutritious cooking and his ability to connect with audiences by reflecting the latest food trends help bring the benefits of canned food to life. Theo’s all about creating dishes that are full of flavour, convenient and affordable using ingredients in highly recyclable metal packaging, helping to support easy sustainable habits in the home.”
