LUXURY packaging specialist Pusterla 1880 has opened a second plant in Tunisia in a move described as adding capacity and flexibility across its UK and global network.
The £4 million investment in Pusterla 1880 Tunisie, with a further £3 million planned for future expansion, enhances the firm’s capabilities in supporting global beauty, fragrance, premium drinks and jewellery brands with advanced packaging solutions.
The 10,000m2 facility, based in Sousse, near Monastir, is said to combine automated production and manual assembly for the manufacture of rectangular and round boxes and specialist packs, such as advent calendars, with a strong focus on quality, precision and attention to detail.
For UK customers, the factory complements the support available through Pusterla 1880’s Dover operation, backed by strategically located manufacturing sites worldwide to help brands move quickly from brief to shelf.
“Tunisia has increasingly established itself as a major industrial player with a skilled workforce and strong connections with Europe,” said Nathan Fage, business development manager of Pusterla 1880 UK. “For the reason, the country is an important part of our Proximity Strategy, which aims to ensure we remain close to our customers not just geographically but also in terms of service quality and flexibility for effective project development.”
The official opening of the new facility was attended by local and international dignitaries and industry partners. These included Andrea Prunas, Italy’s ambassador for Tunisia, and Mourad Fradi, president of the Tunisian Chamber of Commerce.
“One of the key roles of luxury packaging is to provide effective brand guardianship, promoting, enhancing and protecting a product’s premium image and positioning,” added Nathan Fage. “Our new Tunisia factory will further enhance our ability to match the right capability to each project, while maintaining the quality and finish luxury brands demand.”
