HUNTER Luxury has teamed up with Jack Daniel’s to bring to life Halo MK1 Limited Edition, a secondary pack inspired by the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team and Formula 1’s most significant safety innovation, the Halo device.
The release, built for collectors and enthusiasts, debuted at the Miami Grand Prix.
Developed in collaboration with brand owner Brown-Forman and McLaren, Halo MK1 translates the geometry of the Halo cockpit protection system into a controlled display structure that is said to reflect the discipline of motorsport engineering. Introduced to Formula 1 in 2018, the Halo device provided the conceptual foundation for a form defined by protection, balance and structural clarity.
Halo MK1 Limited Edition reinterprets this architecture as a carbon fibre-textured display system finished with trademark McLaren Papaya orange accents, designed to suspend a one litre bottle at its centre of mass through a balanced structural arrangement.
At the core of the structure is a concealed push-button mechanism integrated beneath the McLaren branding. A single press releases the bottle from its cradle, while ‘discreet acoustic dampening’ softens the action.
The pack is constructed from 50+ custom components developed using a palette of eight materials and manufactured through eight distinct processes. Over 20 CAD iterations refined the overall structure and mechanism, supported by digital motion studies to evaluate performance and function, followed by prototyping using FDM, SLA and DMLS processes.
For production, extruded aluminium parts were laser-cut to form apertures, CNC-machined where required for finishing, and die-cast components were also made. The aluminium parts received an electrophoretic coating to deliver a uniform matte finish, combined with carbon fibre effect frames and Alcantara-inspired lining to provide a tactile finish.
Paul Hamilton, head of sales & marketing at Hunter Luxury, said, “Halo is a showcase of what happens when ambition, creativity and engineering come together. This pack was designed to surprise and perform, from the first 2D concept to the final release mechanism. It had to capture the energy and theatre of Formula 1 and the premium heritage of Jack Daniel’s without compromise.
“This is more than a presentation case. It’s a precision-built packaging solution that creates a moment reflecting the same care, ingenuity and control seen on the track. We believe it sets a new benchmark for theatrical secondary packaging, and we’re proud to have brought that vision to life at scale.”
