A custom-built pallet wrapper with an extended mast has reportedly proved to be the perfect blend for a major coffee producer.
The unique pallet wrapper was supplied following a partnership between distributor Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS), manufacturer Robopac, and the UK branch of an international coffee specialist.
The bespoke solution was based on a standard Masterwrap rotary arm model, however the mast was extended to a non-standard 2.4m height. This allows the coffee producer to wrap pallets of chilled coffee cups, which reach 2.2m high and can be unstable until fully wrapped.
YPS said that, as well as comfortably wrapping the high pallets, the innovation also delivers:
· Stability of wrap for unstable and heavy pallets, such as the coffee cup loads which can weigh up to 250Kg, as the wrapping arm moves around the pallet rather than the pallet being rotated
· A significant increase in wrapping speed
· Improved pallet containment, with adjustable settings ensuring that the perfect wrap can be programmed
· Reduced plastic usage from continual monitoring, allowing adjustments and improvements to be made.
· Ease of use for warehouse operatives, with an interactive digital HMI
“Working with both the machine manufacturer and the customer, we were able to deliver to them a system that was ideal for the use they had in mind,” said YPS sales manager James Doyle. “The pallets they deliver to their supermarkets and wholesalers arrive with the products as well protected as possible, while the coffee producer can also keep their eye on material usage to make sure they’re also meeting their other key goals.”
