BUILDING products manufacturer Glidevale Protect has introduced new packaging produced from 100% recycled polymer that will be used across its production processes for the company’s entire membrane product range.

The packaging is a mix of both post-consumer and post-industrial waste plastic. It has been tested during trials at the firm’s manufacturing facilities and rolled out at both Pinxton and Merthyr Tydfil sites. All products within the manufacturer’s range of wall, floor and roofing membranes are being packaged using this material.

John Mellor, head of marketing and sustainability lead at Glidevale Protect, said, “Our journey to implement 100% recycled packaging across our product range was a result of a discussion with our main supplier of plastic bags, lay flat tubing and centre fold sheeting about the need to increase the amount of recycled content in the products they previously supplied to us. They were on board immediately and, after a collaborative effort, reached the 100% recycled content mark, which represents a significant reduction in plastic waste, without compromising the effectiveness of the packaging.”
