A Lancashire dairy farm is said to have secured stability for its pallets of milk bottles following the purchase of a semi-automatic rotating arm pallet wrapper.
Supplied by Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS), the equipment was bought to wrap pallets of milk and complements the farm’s existing packaging machinery, previously supplied by YPS.
The farm has been owned and managed by the same family for more than six decades. YPS explained that the new pallet wrapper has added speed and consistency to end-of-line packing.
A rotating arm wrapper keeps the pallet stationery while its robotic arm circles it with the pallet wrap. This is said to make it ideally suited for loads of smaller, individual, or heavy items, such as milk bottles, where keeping the pallet still reduces movement and maintains load integrity throughout the wrapping cycle.
The new pallet wrapper also improves pallet containment and stability in transit. YPS revealed this particular model offers a choice of wrapping programme, ensuring an ‘excellent’ wrap for the selected products now, and flexibility to wrap other products in the future, if required.
The compact design of the rotating arm wrapper – which requires no turntable – saves space, while the intuitive HMI supports ease of use.
Advanced technology integrated within the pallet wrapper can be used to monitor and optimise film consumption, leading to a reduction in materials use by ensuring the wrap is consistently applied.
This dairy is using the pallet wrapper in conjunction with recyclable packaging, a commitment it has made for all packaging used on its full range of products. Blue film was selected for use with the pallet wrapper to identify contents as a food product and provide clear identification during handling and distribution.
