FENTON Packaging Solutions is celebrating after been awarded National Gold in the International Green Apple Environment Awards for Paper & Packaging: Innovation.

Sustainability manager Alison Gales said the recognition celebrates the firm’s commitment to developing sustainable alternatives to traditional rigid plastic containers.

“Many industries use rigid plastic HDPE containers for everything from chemicals to detergents, and with strong pressure from shareholders, pressure groups, and the public, to move away from plastic or at least reduce it, there has never been a more important time to develop an alternative solution,” she added. “Working with Sweden-based packaging innovators Quadpak, Fenton Packaging Solutions offers a wide range of UN-approved sustainable bag-in-box alternatives which are ideally suited for the majority of products in Packing Groups II & III, where rigid plastic containers have been the traditional packaging format of choice.”

Leeds-based Fenton’s bag-in-box packaging solutions are described as being made from 100% recyclable materials and use 80–90% less plastic than traditional rigid containers.

“This award comes just three months after we were awarded a Bronze medal for sustainability by EcoVadis,” added managing partner Chris Warren. “The National Gold award from The Green Organisation in the Paper & Packaging: Innovation category of this year’s International Green Apple Environment Awards is a testament to the passion, innovation, and teamwork across Fenton.

“Sustainability is at the heart of our business and this latest award highlights our continued commitment to embedding sustainability principles into every aspect of our operations. We’re delighted to see our sustainability efforts recognised on an international stage, and even more excited to keep pushing boundaries for a greener future.”
