MONDI recently welcomed international customers and partners to celebrate the inauguration of its new paper machine at the firm’s Štětí mill in the Czech Republic.
The machine, which forms part of a €400 million investment in the mill, is designed to meet growing demand for paper-based flexible packaging. It will produce around 210,000 tonnes of kraft paper per year, delivering a range of high-strength and high-porosity grades for construction, industrial, and e-commerce applications.
More than 130 customers and partners joined the inauguration event to see the new paper machine in operation.
Andrew King, Mondi Group CEO, said, “This is more than a paper machine, it is a symbol of what we can achieve when innovation, sustainability and teamwork come together. It enables us to continue delivering great service to our customers and the high-quality packaging materials they want to help them achieve their sustainability goals.”
Miroslav Zitka, MD of the Štětí mill, and Vladimir Krajci, project director Mondi Kraft Paper, shared insights into the project’s journey from design to start-up, highlighting the teamwork, safety and dedication that ensured the project was completed on time and on budget. The day also featured a panel discussion on market trends, sustainability, and the importance of collaboration across the packaging value chain. The event concluded with tours of the new machine, networking and celebrations.
