PACKAGING manufacturer Coveris is investing a further £1 million at its Linerless Labelling Centre of Excellence in Spalding, UK.
Part of an investment programme to advance linerless capabilities, the firm revealed the latest spend brings the total investment at the site to £2.5 million.
Home to the UK’s only dedicated linerless label manufacturing facility, Coveris Spalding manufactures over one billion labels annually for FMCG sectors. This latest investment in a ten-colour MPS flexographic press expands the site’s capacity to meet rising UK demand and supports growth into new wide-web markets such as ready meals and food-on-the-go.
Designed to print on both paper and filmic substrates, Coveris added that the new press enables the business to offer sustainable labelling solutions aligned with its No Waste vision.
The advanced MPS technology features E-Sleeve print capabilities. The press is also said to incorporate 100% web inspection for improved quality and consistency, as well as cold foil embellishment. The press is compatible with core applications including Slidewrap, c-wrap, envelope, punnet labels and contour-fitted formats for Skinpack solutions.
Nigel Hewitt, Coveris’ BU paper sales director, said, “This latest investment represents another key milestone in our journey to deliver world-class linerless solutions from our Linerless Centre of Excellence. As demand continues to grow across traditional applications and newer categories like ready meals, our expanded capacity and technical capability ensure we remain the partner of choice for sustainable labelling innovation.”
