COLPAC is celebrating after two of its colleagues were crowned winners at the first Women in Packaging Excellence Awards.
Frances Dickman, head of compliance at the firm, won the Quality Assurance Excellence Award. Whilst Talia Goldman, ESG director, won the Packaging Leadership Award. Kate Berry, Colpac’s head of marketing and product, was also awarded highly commended in the Best Packaging Innovator (SME) category.
Colpac said that Frances Dickman is a standout advocate for quality assurance and has redefined the firm’s operational standards. Her drive for excellence has propelled Colpac to an elite AA+ BRCGS rating, achieved through unannounced audits and sustained with zero non-conformances, it added.
Further to this, Colpac said that Frances sets industry standards and positively influences industry benchmarks, inspiring transformational change for food safe packaging. This is demonstrated through Frances’ involvement in the global working group which created version 7 of the BRCGS Packaging Materials Standard, and the Open 3P Standard Custodian Board which facilitates efficient and consistent data capture, sharing, and reporting across the packaging supply chain. Judges’ comments and testimonials praised her ‘unwavering commitment’ to quality, collaborative leadership, and industry-wide influence.
Frances said, “I’m so pleased and proud to have won the quality assurance excellence award, representing Colpac and our industry. What a fantastic night attended by such a talented group of individuals, huge congratulations to all the nominees, finalists, and those who received awards!”
Talia Goldman is a transformative leader in the packaging industry, Colpac said. Spearheading the firm’s net-zero strategy, she delivered a 22% emissions reduction, earning industry recognition and empowering colleagues to make cultural change across all levels of the organisation.
Colpac added that Talia is a passionate advocate for systemic change, co-founding and co-chairing the Alliance for Fibre-Based Packaging, sitting on the PackUK Interim Steering Group, and engaging policymakers and peers to drive progress. Her strategic influence, collaborative approach, and relentless ambition make her a true sustainability champion and industry changemaker, it continued.
Talia said, “This award is wonderful recognition of the effort and passion I continue to pour into Colpac and the packaging industry. What was special about these awards was also the celebration of individuals who don’t often get the chance to have their work and dedication publicly celebrated, well done to all the finalists and winners!”
Kate Berry was highly commended in the Best Packaging Innovator (SME) category. Kate leads pioneering product development across all Colpac products, including the Stagione range and custom food packaging for brands using direct food contact inks. Her continuous innovation delivers real sustainability gains and cutting-edge packaging that meets evolving customer and environmental needs, Colpac said.
