A fashion retailer is said to be reaping the benefits of investing in automated packing equipment to support web sales.
The equipment purchased was a Max Pro 24 vertical bagging machine, supplied by Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS).
“The retailer was looking to automate to increase capacity by improving packing speed,” explained Tom Hill, YPS’ e-commerce and bagging sales manager. “This side of their business is continuing to grow and this investment will help them to keep up with increased demand, so that they continue to deliver excellent service to their customers.”
YPS revealed the Max Pro 24 will achieve packing speeds of over 350 packs per hour. The fashion retailer’s previous rate was around 240 packs per hour, achieved via a resource-intensive process delivered by four manual packing stations. The packing staff have been deployed elsewhere in the business.
This model of vertical bagging machine includes an integrated thermal transfer printer for direct on-bag printing. YPS added that this ensures no secondary labels are required, speeding up the process, reducing cost and ensuring no compromise on the recyclability of the used bag.
YPS’ in-house team of engineers commissioned the equipment on site and trained the retailer’s operators. A service contract was also included. Currently the retailer is utilising plain mailing bags, also supplied by YPS, with the intention of moving to printed materials, to further highlight their brand to their consumers.
“The improvements experienced and the speedy payback time expected have encouraged this retailer to consider further investment in this type of equipment,” Tom added. “It’s great to hear how quickly this customer has seen real benefits for their business.”
