ULMA launches new flow wrapper for high-speed MAP applications

FM 400 horizontal flow wrap packaging machine

MACHINERY manufacturer ULMA Packaging UK has announced the launch of the FM 400 horizontal flow wrap packaging machine.

The solution is said to be engineered to meet the demands of high-speed Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) applications in the fresh food sector.

With up to 150 packs per minute production capability, ULMA said the FM 400 combines speed and precision using a Long-Dwell sealing head. This advanced orbital movement technology ensures hermetically sealed packaging at high speed, which is essential for maintaining product integrity and extending shelf-life through MAP.

The FM 400 is designed for demanding washdown environments. ULMA added that its stainless-steel construction and vertical plate design facilitate intensive hot water and chemical cleaning. All external electronics are rated IP66 or higher, providing resistance to water and dust ingress.

The machine can be configured in multiple formats, including top reel, bottom reel, and side seal options. It is also compatible with a wide range of barrier films, from traditional laminates to shrink materials.

James Couldwell, MD of ULMA Packaging UK, said, “The FM 400 represents the next generation of high-performance flow wrapping for the fresh food industry. With its exceptional sealing quality, robust hygiene credentials, and smart connectivity, this machine is designed to help our customers increase throughput, reduce downtime and achieve sustainability objectives. It’s a powerful addition to the ULMA range and underlines our continued commitment to innovation and excellence in packaging technology.”
