THE Foodservice Packaging Association (FPA) has announced Mike Revell, MD of the Socius Network, as the organisation’s new executive chair.
The result was very close, with only three votes between the two candidates. The result was verified by FPA’s accountants, Kreston Reeves.
This will be Mike’s second term as FPA chair, with his first spell spanning the time when the association transitioned from the BDPA to the FPA.
He said, “As a passionate supporter of the FPA and everything the association stands for, I want to see it thrive and to continue supporting its members for years to come. There is no doubt our market has changed dramatically in recent years, and as an industry we are faced with more and more legislation, taxes and environmental challenges. I believe it is important that the industry’s trade association – owned and paid for by its membership – is focused on delivering tangible benefits to every member.”
Anna Turner, who took on the interim executive chair role in February, added, “I would like to formally thank the FPA board and committees for their incredible support during my tenure. Without their commitment and enthusiasm the great strides we have made over the past few months to create a more transparent, flexible association would not have been possible. I look forward to seeing Mike build on that work – and am heartened to learn he shares my view about the importance of our industry’s young talent to the future success of the association. I wish him all the best.”
Mike will formally take on the role from July 1. In the meantime, Anna has agreed to stay on as interim executive chair.
Martin Kersh, FPA executive director, added, “Our sincere thanks to two superb candidates for accepting their nominations and for their excellent presentations at the FPA EGM. We are blessed to have such dedicated and committed members, who, even with big workloads, are willing to be of service to the FPA. That we have candidates of this calibre is a testament to how far the FPA has come. They both deserve our congratulations.”
