FOOD packaging specialist Faerch has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Eurowind Energy, which will supply the business with 70,000 MWh of green electricity annually from the forthcoming Novogrodek wind energy park in Poland.
“With this PPA with Eurowind Energy, Faerch will benefit from a reliable source of renewable power, helping us reduce our carbon footprint and support the energy transition in Poland,” said Tom Sand-Kristensen, group CFO at Faerch. “By securing renewable energy for our operations, we are enhancing the sustainability of our Polish sites while contributing to the increase of renewable energy in the Polish grid.
“The agreement also marks another significant step in our Renewable Energy Strategy, which aims to power all our facilities with additional renewable energy through PPAs.”
With the new wind PPA adding to the existing Polish solar PPA, Faerch added that more than 85% of its electricity consumption in Poland will come from renewable energy sources by 2027.
The Novogrodek park is currently in the pre-construction phase. The turbines have been commissioned from Vestas and are expected to be operational by early 2027.
With PPAs already signed in Poland, Finland, the UK and Denmark, and additional agreements in progress in Spain, Italy, France, and Germany, Faerch revealed it is on track to achieve its goal of securing PPAs for all sites by the end of 2025.
