FLEXIBLE packaging manufacturer Korozo Group has published its latest GRI-approved Sustainability Report, which details the company’s progress in its sustainability journey.
The report is centred around the three pillars of People, Packaging, and Planet. Each is described as an important focus for the group, with ‘substantial improvements’ being made across the board.
Recent examples include receiving an EcoVadis Silver Medal and achieving a CDP A rating.
The Sustainability Report reveals a 16% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions reported versus the previous year; as well as significant electricity and natural gas savings. Water consumption and discharge has also fallen, while 79% of non-hazardous waste generated from production was recycled. 41% of hazardous waste generated from production was recycled.
In terms of packaging, 64% of the total amount of packaging produced in 2023 was recyclable, the report highlighted. 1,400 metric tonnes of recycled material was used during production.
When it comes to people, the report found that safety culture transformation efforts, visible leadership commitment, ergonomics risk analyses, and other safety improvements reduced lost workdays by 67.2%, cut the number of accidents by 56.1%, and lowered the accident frequency rate by 65.6%, year-on-year.
