SEE has developed a new retention packaging system to help e-commerce and fulfilment companies meet demands for same day deliveries and sustainability.
The new SEALED AIR brand Korrvu Rapid Fix is designed to provide operators with a retention system that can be quickly inserted in an I-Pack tray. This is said to create a ‘high-speed’ automated system that reduces manual processes and touch points.
The solution has already won two French packaging innovation awards: the Innovation Award in the Functionality and Use category at the All4Pack Innovation Awards; and the Production and Distribution/Logistics category at the Oscars de l’Emballage.
David Masa, portfolio marketing senior manager at SEE, said, “Korrvu Rapid Fix replaces the need for manual void fill and cushioning, while still maximising product protection. The retention insert can be put in place in seconds, with its highly resilient low-slip film locking products in place to protect against shock and vibration.
“Risks of damage can be minimised during storage and transit, meaning there’s lower chance of orders being returned and companies having to pay refunds or cover the costs of replacements and redeliveries.”
Korrvu Rapid Fix is made from cardboard containing a minimum of 50% post-consumer recycled content, while the plastic retention film is described as recycle-ready. Sustainability can be further enhanced through the elimination of bulky void fill material.
David Masa added, “Korrvu Rapid Fix can be seamlessly integrated into fulfilment lines to improve efficiencies throughout supply chains. It is quick and easy to set up and operate and requires no glue to suspend and protect products.
“Together with Sealed Air brand I-Pack, operators can benefit from an automated packaging solution that helps improve workplace safety and reduces resource requirements, allowing staff to be deployed to other areas of operation.”
The solution is suited to packaging a range of products including cosmetics, health and beauty, homewares, toys and small-to-medium sized DIY tools and equipment.
