BERRY Global Group’s European business has made a multi-million-euro investment in the commissioning of a new conversion line at its Steinfeld factory in Germany.
The aim is to meet increasing demand for its patented NorDiVent form-fill-seal (FFS) polyethylene (PE) sacks for powdered products.
The investment includes the refurbishment of a production hall and installation of conversion machinery, which will increase production capacity.
“We have seen strong demand for NorDiVent across our customer base in recent years, particularly now with its ability to incorporate recycled plastic content from our Sustane range of recycled polymers,” said sales director Frank Heseding. “With this new line, we will be able to maintain the highest levels of quality and service, including the customisation of the film for specific market requirements.”
NorDiVent FFS is said to provide a dust and moisture-free solution for the filling and packing of various types of powdery products, including cement, dry mixes, chemicals, foodstuffs, and more. Berry explained that the film’s ‘durable’ construction helps ensure ‘consistently reliable’ performance, letting out air in a dust-free manner while delivering moisture protection. This allows sacks to be stored outdoors.
Part of Berry’s B Circular Range, NorDiVent is available with up to 50% post-consumer recycled plastic in the form of Berry’s Sustane range of recycled polymers. The film is recyclable where PE film collections exist.
“This increase in capacity underlines our commitment to continue delivering the highest quality products to our customers to meet their product handling and protection requirements while also supporting their sustainability objectives,” Frank Heseding added.
