James Cropper has been shortlisted in three categories in this year’s Pentawards as a result of the firm’s work for Bruichladdich’s Luxury Redefined range, which involved the creation of a sustainable outer wrap.
The business has been nominated in the Packaging Brand Identity Projects, Design with Purpose, and Sustainable Design – Beverages categories.
The coloured wrap, made for The Bruichladdich Eighteen and The Bruichladdich Thirty bottles, is made from fully recyclable paper pulp and moulded to the shape of the proprietary glass bottle.
Bespoke in colour and shape with emboss and deboss features, the design also includes a branded, oversized custom clasp feature. Using 100% fresh fibre, the wrap is said to be ‘significantly’ lighter than previous packaging solutions without compromising strength or integrity.
Rowan Nowell, senior product designer at James Cropper Paper Products, said, “Being shortlisted for one category at the Pentawards is an achievement, so to have three is incredible and a testament to the hard work, creativity, and dedication of our innovative team. Their relentless pursuit of excellence and commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainable packaging design have set new industry standards and garnered global recognition.
“We are immensely proud and look forward to attending the ceremony in October.”
This recognition adds to James Cropper’s accolades for the work with Bruichladdich, following a win of the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) Sustainable Innovation Award and being named as finalists at the Packaging Premiere Awards in Milan. The papermaker also received a FAB Award, which highlights creativity and innovation in the food and beverage industry.
The wrap was created in collaboration with creative partner, Thirst.
The Pentawards ceremony will take place on 25 October on London.
