EDINBURGH-based packaging firm Vegware, in partnership with the bio-based and Biodegradable Industries Association (BBIA), will be hosting a webinar later this month called “What is the Bioeconomy and Why Should You Care?”
The aim is to explore the fundamentals of the bio-economy and its significance in today’s world.
The webinar will take place on Thursday 25th April at 2.30pm, and will feature Dr Jen Vanderhoven, chief operating officer at the BBIA, who will provide insights into the bio-economy’s principles, applications, and benefits.
Attendees can expect to gain an understanding of what the bio-economy is and why it is so important; the benefits of a bio-economy; what bio-based and biodegradable materials are; the difference between biodegradable and compostable; and the opportunities that lie ahead in the bio-economy landscape.
“Without knowing the term bio-economy, so many of us already value it – seeking nature’s solutions, moving away from finite materials in favour of plant-based and compostable alternatives,” said Kelly Falconer, head of marketing at Vegware. “Through this webinar, we aim to arm participants with the knowledge and insights to embrace bio-based solutions and drive positive change.”
Dr Jen Vanderhoven added, “We believe that education is key to accelerating the transition towards a circular bio-economy. By shedding light on the bioeconomy’s significance and opportunities, we hope to inspire individuals and organisations to adopt bio-based practices and products.”
The webinar is free to attend and open to anyone interested in learning more about the bio-economy, including professionals in foodservice, sustainability, policymaking, and beyond. Attendees can register for the webinar here:
