Outsourcing solutions to the fore at Contract Pack & Fulfilment

THE BCMPA has hailed the success of last week’s Packaging Innovations & Empack event, where the organisation hosted 24 of its members at the Contract Pack & Fulfilment (CP&F) zone.

With collaboration a key theme at the NEC Birmingham show, the BCMPA said its hospitality lounge proved a focus for visitors from a range of sectors, including food & drink, nutraceuticals, personal care, household chemicals, general co-packing, gift packing, and e-commerce and fulfilment.

The BCMPA said the ‘growing disruption’ in the supply chain over the past few years has made it clear that brand owners are relying more on outsourced third-party manufacturers, packers, fulfilment and logistics suppliers. Members were on hand to talk about solutions ranging from new product development, pack design, filling, contract packing and white/private label products, through to storage and e-commerce and fulfilment services.

Alongside the CP&F show area, BCMPA CEO Emma Verkaik contributed to a speaker panel at a session titled ‘The Value of Collaboration as an External Supply Chain Partner’, with Michael Briggs of Marsden Packaging. The panel, moderated by software provider Nulogy’s chief commercial officer, Josephine Coombe, showcased the benefits of partnerships in the external supply chain and discussed ways in which collaboration remains key to success for brands and retailers.

Emma Verkaik said, “Contract Pack & Fulfilment was once again a great success and demonstrated the importance of UK manufacturing in challenging times. It was great to actively showcase how outsourcing is so vital and how third-party suppliers are providing innovative and workable solutions for their clients. The adeptness of the supply chain in helping brands and retailers get their products to market against a background of geopolitical and economic factors has never been more important.”

The BCMPA will be representing its 200-plus membership at a further six shows this year across a range of industry sectors and revealed it is fully expecting to see even greater demand for contract manufacturing and third-party services.
