AIRDRIE-based Label Tec Scotland has commissioned the UK’s first installation of Konica Minolta’s AccurioLabel 400 digital label press.
The solution is said to deliver ‘incredibly high resolution and print speed’ for the labels provider.
Label Tec Scotland has been relying on technology from Konica Minolta for more than 20 years, and was seeking a new press that would increase capacity and widen its offering to customers.
Paul Dunne, MD at Label Tec, explained, “During a visit to Label Expo last year we noticed how many of the digital technologies on the market have changed very little over the last five years. The AccurioLabel 400 offers something different, printing incredibly high resolution at speeds matching traditional flexographic presses. It also produces an opaque white that can match anything on the market today. What is more, there is no need to pre-coat the wide range of substrates we are able to print on.”
Konica Minolta said the AccurioLabel 400 is capable of speeds up to 39.9m per minute, depending on the media type and colour combinations, with print data processed at a resolution of 1,200 dpi x 2,400 dpi. Tasks such as colour adjustments, colour registration control and calibration are fully automated with Intelligent Quality Care.
Paul added, “I believe this is a safe investment for my business and it enables Label Tec Scotland to exploit the medium to higher run digital print segment in the market.”
In 2019, Label Tec Scotland was also the first company in the UK to install the AccurioLabel 230, which helped to keep customers supplied with labels during the pandemic.
Jon Pritchard, label and inkjet consultant, Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK), added, “We have been working with Label Tec Scotland for more than 20 years. During this time, it has continuously introduced new and innovative technologies, enabling their customers to capitalise on creative new ways for their products to be identified, marketed and sold. Konica Minolta is delighted that the first AccurioLabel 400 in the UK has found a happy home in Airdrie.”
