TIPA will showcase its range of compostable packaging solutions at the upcoming Packaging Innovations exhibition at the NEC Birmingham.
The firm said its packaging offers the ‘ultimate alternative’ to plastic packaging, boasting the same durability, shelf-life, barrier protection and transparency, without the ‘detrimental’ impact on the environment.
TIPA’s compostable packaging is fully certified to biodegrade in both home or industrial composters. The company has launched a range of fully compostable packaging including coffee pods, zipper bags, net packaging, and resealable bags.
Recent developments include TIPA’s fully compostable and recyclable paddy straw trays crafted from the waste product of rice. The trays are said to not only prevent air pollution, caused by burning agricultural waste, but also offer a ‘supremely eco-conscious’ alternative to conventional plastic packaging.
As a founding member of the Compostable Coalition UK, TIPA is working to ensure compostable packaging is fully integrated with the bio-waste recycling infrastructure in the UK.
TIPA’s CEO and co-founder Daphna Nissenbaum said, “Our mission is to end the packaging sector’s plastic problem. For too long, plastic packaging has been seen as the ultimate solution, however, TIPA’s technological developments have created compostable packaging that mirrors the beneficial properties of plastic, yet leaves no trace at end of life.
“At Packaging Innovations, we look forward to meeting with brands who want to meet the consumer demand for eco-conscious packaging and develop a plastic-free world.”
