SONOCO will be showcasing its rigid paperboard packaging solutions EnviroCan and GREENCAN at the Packaging Innovations & Empack event at the NEC Birmingham from February 21-22.
The company’s Gravy paperboard drum solution, which won Supply Chain Solution of the Year at the 2022 UK Packaging Awards, will also be on display.
Recyclable by design, the EnviroCan container is made of up to 85% recycled material.  The can body is made with recycled fibre and Sonoco explained that the solution features a ‘highly effective’ oxygen and moisture barrier layer, which assures food safety and preserves shelf-life, while ensuring ease of recycling.
Sonoco will exhibit its newest and largest size paper end EnviroCan, which is 153mm in diameter. Other EnviroCan sizes – with diameters of 73mm, 99mm and 140mm – will also be highlighted, as will the variety of closures available for use with EnviroCan including paper lids and sprinkler options.
The GREENCAN recyclable paperboard package is made of 92-98% paperboard and boasts a range of barrier properties. It is available in multiple shapes and sizes – from round, square or rectangular to oval, oblong or triangular. GREENCAN also features an integrated paper lid, so when empty, the whole package can go through the household paper recycling stream without any need to disassemble it.
Both the EnviroCan and GREENCAN containers are suitable for the food and drink, beauty and pharma markets.
Kieren France, VP – sales and marketing at Sonoco Europe, said, “We always enjoy exhibiting at Packaging Innovations at the NEC and we’re delighted to return to the event in 2024. Visitors will be able to see our highly recyclable solutions in person, and will have the opportunity to speak with our team members about how they can convert their packaging to more sustainable options, such as Sonoco’s EnviroCan and GREENCAN.”
