CORRUGATED packaging manufacturer Durham Box has been working with local charity, Feeding Families, to donate large quantities of boxes and dump bins, designed and printed free of charge.
The charity helps families in the Sunderland, Newcastle, County Durham, Northumberland and Teesside areas who are experiencing food poverty.
Durham Box’s involvement with the charity began in 2017 with a food project for Christmas. Since then the firm’s role has expanded with the provision of emergency food boxes for the Feeding Families’ year-round programme. So far in 2023, Durham Box has provided 4,000 welcome home boxes, 28,500 standard boxes, 1,500 collection bins, 300 toppers and 12,000 Christmas boxes. These donations have allowed Feeding Families to deliver emergency food boxes across 12 local authorities, providing 346,731 meals valued at £330,220.
Juliet Sanders, CEO of Feeding Families, said, “Durham Box’s support has been the backbone of our operations. Their commitment from our early days to the present has been a shining example of how the business community can positively impact local charities.”
Dan Morris, Durham Box’s MD, added, “We are delighted to be supporting Feeding Families again this year. Recognising the hardships faced by many families in the region, especially in these challenging times, we feel privileged to contribute in a meaningful way through our donations. We believe it’s essential to stand with those in need, and we’re committed to making a positive impact in the fight against food poverty.”
