CORRUGATED packaging manufacturer Durham Box has appointed Percy Sowden as the company’s new general manager.
Percy’s career began in engineering where he amassed over 25 years of experience in various engineering and project management positions. His transition into the manufacturing sector came 12 years ago when he joined Nissan Motor Manufacturing. Subsequently, he ventured into the corrugated packaging industry, working with several companies in the UK and across the Middle East.
In his new role, Percy will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site activities, with a strong focus on future-proofing the business in terms of process optimisation, strategic investments and staff development.
“Durham Box has grown significantly over recent years and is in a strong position to continue that growth,” Percy said. “It is a good solid business and is a great place to work. Having a diverse background from different industries, I bring a broad range of expertise to the team and will be looking to build a short, medium and long-term plan around how we manage operational excellence and business growth.”
Dan Morris, Durham Box’s MD, added, “We are delighted to welcome Percy to our team where his experience will play a key role in shaping the next stage of our growth. I look forward to seeing him make a difference in his role, helping to build the foundations for the business to thrive as we continue to expand in the years to come.”
