DENNY Bros has been named Suffolk’s Business of the Year at the East Anglian Daily Times’ Business Awards.
The multi-page labelling and printing company also won the Environmental and Sustainability Award.
MD Graham Denny said, “We are very, very pleased and very proud to be called Suffolk’s business of the year. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of all our staff and our commitment to Suffolk and Bury St Edmunds. We have been in Bury for 78 years, but our family goes back to the 1400s in Suffolk. So it is great just to make a little contribution to the Suffolk economy.”
The Environmental and Sustainability Award highlighted Denny Bros’ environmental credentials which included the completion of 1,800 solar panels on the roof of the firm’s HQ and being awarded Suffolk Carbon Charter Gold status.
Mr Denny added, “We have done a lot of work in the last 12 months in completing our four-phase solar panels project as well as continuing to reduce our carbon footprint. We committed to increasing our solar panel capacity just as the energy prices were going up so it was a very timely investment. We didn’t know how much energy prices were going to go up. We are anticipating a six to seven year payback, but it’s probably a three-year investment return.”
Judges said Denny Bros ‘has done a stand-up job of modernising in a green way’ and noted the business ‘has a clear strategy for reducing its environmental impact and achieving net zero’.
