Berry outlines support for RECOUP’s plastics recycling message

BERRY Global’s European recycling business is the headline sponsor of this year’s RECOUP Plastics Resource and Recycling Conference, which takes place on September 28 in Peterborough.

RECOUP is an authority on the plastics recycling value chain, dedicated to securing sustainable, circular, and practical solutions for plastics resources. The conference attracts around 500 delegates from all parts of the value chain, including companies, NGOs, and local and national government bodies, to network and share best practices.

Berry said sponsoring the event underlines the company’s commitment to drive sustainability throughout its operations and developing ‘appropriate’ product solutions to help customers meet and exceed sustainability goals.

Berry added that its own recycling operations allow the company to develop a more sustainable and circular approach to product design. By recycling plastic waste, Berry reduces reliance on virgin materials and external sources of recycled resin, enabling the company to better control the quality of recyclate produced.

“The continual development of plastics recycling and resource management will be critical to cementing the material’s role in the circular economy,” said Mike Baxter, external affairs director for Berry Global. “RECOUP makes a fundamental and wide-ranging contribution to this – covering everything from the introduction of waste reduction, recycling initiatives, and technical support to education, training, and the proactive promotion of the many benefits of recycled plastics. We are therefore delighted to support the conference, which we know attendees will find stimulating and informative.”

Berry will also be showcasing several of its own products at the event, including Entour, a recyclable PE lamination film, Collation Shrink Film with up to 50% recycled content, and Bontite, a stretch wrap from Berry’s range of pallet stabilisation solutions that offers downgauging possibilities and the option to include recycled materials.
