SAINSBURY’S has removed single-use plastic trays from its by Sainsbury’s range of whole chickens.
The supermarket estimates that the move will save 140 tonnes of plastic annually, with it coming into play on its chickens ranging from extra small to extra large sizes.
Film packaging will come in place of the trays, with Sainsbury’s adding that the new packaging can be recycled at the flexible plastics recycling points found at the front of its stores.
