Adidas unveils football boots made from discarded plastic

Adidas

ADIDAS has partnered with Parley for the Ocean to launch its first ever football boots made from plastic waste intercepted on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities, and shorelines.

It comes as the brand looks to strengthen its commitment to contributing to reducing plastic waste, with it utilising the non-profit organisation’s Parley Ocean Plastic for the lucid blue and white boots in its Predator Accuracy, X Speedportal, and Copa Pure ranges.

The launch of the boots marks the latest chapter of a partnership between Adidas and Parley for the Oceans which first started in 2015, with the sports brand initially utilising their solution across a number of football apparel jerseys.

Adidas said, “While not the solution for saving our oceans, this innovation represents the brand’s commitment towards replacing virgin polyester with recycled solutions by 2024 wherever possible.”
