THE SuperLock pot from Berry Superfos is providing Choco Yoco with a reusable packaging solution described as combining a ‘premium’ look with product protection.
Belgium-based Choco Yoco has developed a range of yoghurt-based spreads, said to be the first range in Europe to have Nutri-Score A, the highest nutritional score possible in the Nutri-Score system used in many European countries.
“I had my eye on the SuperLock range for a long time and did not even consider other options,” said Alex Helsen, Choco Yoco’s MD. “Its high-quality look makes it a perfect match for our Choco Yoco concept. Further, consumers can re-purpose the pot, for example, as a cookie or fruit container after they have enjoyed the Choco Yoco spread.”
Berry added that one of the characteristics of SuperLock that makes it ‘ideal’ for food products is an ‘extremely low’ oxygen transmission rate, which ensures the spreads stay fresh for a long time. The pack is manufactured in polypropylene, which is a recyclable material. The replaceable lid protects the contents once opened and also allows for portion control.
The Choco Yoco spreads are currently available in two flavours: chocolate and hazelnut. To obtain Nutri-Score A, Alex Helsen revealed the firm had to think innovatively.
“Through my former experience as co-owner of a traditional chocolate spread factory, I noticed a high demand for healthier chocolate spreads,” he explained. “But it was difficult to find tasty and healthy alternatives to the fat and sugar-based ingredients used in traditional recipes.
“With Choco Yoco, we have cracked the nut and created a pioneering yoghurt-based chocolate spread that is tasty as well as healthy. And now we have launched the SuperLock pot which makes Choco Yoco highly visible on supermarket shelves.”
