The Big Debate joins London Packaging Week’s seminar programme

THE Big Debate is set to join London Packaging Week’s line-up of seminar sessions on September 21.

Martin Kersh (director at The Foodservice Packaging Association), Jane Bevis (executive chair at OPRL), and Emma Beal (MD at West London Waste Authority), are some of the Big Debate Ambassadors set to tackle major packaging industry topics as part of the ‘People or Planet – Can UK Citizens Afford Packaging Reforms?’ session.

The debate will explore the latest reforms directly affecting packaging decisions, including the Plastic Packaging Tax, DRS, EPR and packaging waste recycling reforms.

The ambassadors will discuss whether there should there be a delay in introducing them until the food and energy inflation crisis is brought under control. They will also look at whether the reforms create a two-tier economy, meaning only the richest can afford to be environmentally conscious.

Visitors and exhibitors will be encouraged to pose their questions during the event.

Josh Brooks, marketing and community director for Easyfairs’ Packaging Events, said, “The Big Debate is always fantastic entertainment, and we are so pleased that it’s joining London Packaging Week. The subject of packaging reforms is the hottest of topics, not least because many people are not quite sure where to turn.

“Our Big Debate Ambassadors will be able to share their unique insights and no doubt some contentious views across the hour and a quarter session. So, anyone who wants to know more about the Plastic Packaging Tax, DRS, EPR and packaging waste recycling reforms, this is the must attend seminar session of the year.”
