SMURFIT Kappa has announced it has developed a new sustainable e-commerce packaging solution for a supplier of classic football boots to major stars including Karim Benzema, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount.
RareBoots4u was the brainchild of two 16-year-old boys, Jake Self and Cam Sangster, who turned their passion for football boots into a business. Specialising in classic boots that are no longer available to buy in shops, the company’s Instagram page features famous footballers showing off their purchases.
The company approached Smurfit Kappa to create a customised solution solution with the flexibility to accommodate a wide variety of sizes of football boots alongside promoting its brand.
The new RareBoots4u box is described as featuring a ‘striking design and clean lines’. It also uses a reduced amount of material and is recyclable, renewable and biodegradable.
Eddie Fellows, CEO of Smurfit Kappa UK & Ireland, said, “This has been an exciting project for us to work on and, together with RareBoots4u, we have been able to develop a 100% paper-based packaging solution that reduces their carbon footprint and works hand-in-hand with their social media strategy. From design to inception, the dedicated team at our Barnstaple site provided a fit-for-purpose, easily-assembled solution that will help them continue to grow as a business.”
RareBoots4u co-founder Cam Sangster added, “It has been an absolute pleasure working with Smurfit Kappa in developing sustainable packaging for our wide selection of boots.”
Jake Self commented, “What Smurfit Kappa was able to create for us was something incredibly unique, and the response from our customers has been excellent.”
